There are footways in almost every village or town in the Parc naturel régional du Verdon (Nature Park of the Verdon). The landscapes and the nature are always magnificent. Information and brochures are available at the local Tourism Offices.
Some of the footways are very famous. The 'sentier Martel' is one of them. This breathtaking footway will always stay in your memory. Other well-known footways are: sentier de l'Imbut , sentier Vidal , sentier des Cavaliers… At the Tourism Offices there are books available which give an overview of the walking possibilities in the river gorges. You can also find some information on http://www.carto.net/verdon/verdon . Attention: for some footways you need a good physical fitness.
Two so called GR-routes (Grande Randonnée or 'big walk') go all over the Verdon; you can follow the GR4 and the GR 99 partly. Whatever circuit you choose it is always very useful to have a topographic map ('Série Bleue' on a 1/25.000 scale). On these maps all footways and other details are shown.
Of course you can participate at organised walks or let you guide. Find more information on www.les-guides.net (also speleology etc.)
